During our travels this afternoon, Food Guy suggested that we stop by a new ice cream shop in Royal Oak. So, we swung into
Oberweis Dairy and Ice Cream. This seemed like a good idea, since the ice cream was a reported 18% butterfat, and there is nothing like sweet, fatty ice cream to hit the spot.
Food Guy had one scoop of Apple Strudel ice cream in a cup.
Food Gal had one scoop of Chocalate Peanut Butter

When we first came in, I was excited. It looked like a normal ice cream parlor, but off to the side there was a small dairy shop with milk (in glass bottles), cheese, yogurt, and the like.
It all started to go downhill from there, though. There was a short line, that didn't take long, but we waited 15 minutes after ordering to get our single-scoop cups of ice cream.
After that, the ice cream was going to have to be excellent to make up for the wait. And, the ice cream was just good. It tasted like apple strudel with ice cream over top of it, but I just wasn't wowed.
I rank this restaurant:

Ok, Food Guy was really excited to go here, but I was indifferent. The service was slo-ow! We waited in line (about 2-3 people in front of us) for probably 5 minutes. We each ordered 1 scoop in a bowl, to go. We waited, and waited...and waited more, while people got their stuff, and new people came in. Mind you, these other people all had elaborate ice creams. So finally we get ours, and they are apologetic. So we leave and I notice a hair in mine! Ahhhhhh! My stomach really turned after that. The ice cream was good (chocolate peanut butter) but not good enough to subject myself to this poor service and potential hairs again. I rate this experience as not necessary to repeat:
